Canadian manufacturer Can-Am has built a rightful reputation in rally raid racing for performance, durability and reliability. Its most recognizable product is, without a doubt, the Maverick X3. It competes in the SSV class, which is rapidly growing in popularity worldwide. These cars are small, nimble, tough and reliable and thus create the perfect conditions for a highly competitive class.

Can-Am builds two different types of Maverick X3, each compliant to their own specific set of technical regulations. The differences can be hard to spot, as they still look quite similar. The prototype-spec T3 stands out as it is slightly larger than its T4 counterpart with the width coming in at 2100 millimetres versus 1900 for the T4.

This particular T3, chassis number WEGTP28ELNAAA2659 (also known as 2020-117) was built in the latter stages of 2022 and stands out because of its low mileage and ownership history. The car was formerly owned by South Racing owner Scott Abraham. It has run only 1013 kilometres and its sole competitive outing came during the 2022 Dubai International Baja. There it finished 11th in class, entered and driven by offroad racing veteran Thomas Bell.

As mentioned, this Maverick X3 has been built to fully comply with FIA T3 regulations and is ready to compete in rally raid competition all around the globe. Power comes from a Rotax-built, turbocharged 900cc three-cylinder engine. The engine is capable of producing 197 horsepower, although the power output is capped at 170 horsepower when fitted with a 27mm restrictor as required by the regulations. The car is fitted with FIA-standard safety equipment, roll cage and fuel tank, OMP racing seat and seat belts, Reiger dampers, automatic and manual fire extinguishers and many other features that come to be expected from the Can-Am Maverick and South Racing.
