●        Jaap van Lagen takes third victory of the season at TT Circuit Assen

●        Joep Breedveld remains in Rookie title contention after double podium

●        Team poised to take on remaining rounds at Hockenheim and Zolder

Maastricht, 4 August 2026 – Team RaceArt secured its third overall victory of the season at the popular Jack’s Racing Day event at the TT Circuit Assen. Reigning champion Jaap van Lagen charged to victory on Saturday in front of packed grandstands, while Joep Breedveld further cemented himself as a serious Rookie title contender with two podium finishes

The Jack’s Racing Day event at the TT Circuit Assen has long been a regular highlight on the Dutch motorsport calendar. Spectators can enjoy a varied programme of cars, motorbikes and karts with free admission.

The Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux is a regular feature of the programme and completed the fourth round of the season in front of packed grandstands. RaceArt secured two overall podium finishes at the event last year. A similar result would once again suit the team well this time round, as it was still very much in contention for the title in the highly competitive single-make championship.

Friday’s programme consisted of two Free Practice sessions. Van Lagen immediately threw down the gauntlet and backed that up by securing a place on the front row of the grid in qualifying on Saturday morning. He qualified fourth for the second race.

Breedveld and his Rookie team-mate Arthur Peters also both enjoyed strong qualifying sessions. Breedveld qualified second for Race 1 and took the Rookie pole for Race 2. Peters secured third on the grid on both occasions.

The first race of the weekend, held on Saturday afternoon, got off to a spectacular start. Van Lagen got off the line in rapid fashion and captured the race lead at the first corner. He held on to it for the rest of the race, securing his third victory of the season.

Breedveld also ended the day with a trophy: he finished second in the Rookie class. Despite a strong race, Peters fell just a few seconds short of the podium, finishing fourth.

The following day, the Carrera Cup Benelux competitors once again treated the crowd at Assen to a spectacular race. Van Lagen, starting from fourth on the grid, dropped back to fifth at the start. A safety car, brought out by an unfortunate retirement for Peters, presented him with fresh opportunities to move up the order.

The Porsche veteran immediately reclaimed fourth place with a daring overtaking manoeuvre at the Mandeveen corner and then looked set to challenge for third place. Unfortunately, it was not to be: Van Lagen dropped back to sixth place following contact with another car.

Breedveld, meanwhile, was embroiled in a fierce battle of his own, ultimately crossing the line in second place in the Rookie class. The result further underlines an already stellar debut season in Carrera Cup Benelux so far: across eight races, he finished on the Rookie podium six times.

Thanks in part to his victory on Saturday, Van Lagen remains a strong contender in the battle for the overall championship. With four races remaining, he sits in second place in the standings, just five points off the lead. Breedveld faces a similar situation in the Rookie standings, where the gap stands at seven points. 

The Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux season continues at the Hockenheimring in Germany from 11 to 13 September. The championship will then form part of the support programme for the spectacular International GT Open.

Drivers’ comments:

Jaap van Lagen: “This was a weekend full of ups and downs. I had a similar problem to the one I had at Zandvoort, which meant I couldn’t build up my throttle smoothly. Despite that, I still managed to win Race 1. In the second race, I lost a few places and finished sixth. Despite that, I scored some good points and I’m still second in the championship. We need to make sure we can get through the last four races of the season without any problems and have less bad luck, and then everything will be fine.

Joep Breedveld: “This was my first time at Assen, so the first free practice session was all about getting to know the track. Ahead of the weekend, I spent a lot of time in the simulator and prepared extensively with my engineer Bavo. That paid off, because I got up to speed straight away. Race 1 wasn’t easy; I battled hard with the other Rookies and eventually finished ninth and second among the Rookies. Ahead of Sunday, we made a few changes to the set-up and the car was simply brilliant. A big thank you to the team for that. Unfortunately, I made a small mistake while battling, was overtaken by several cars and my splitter got damaged. That was a shame, but I’m carrying on with my head held high. When I arrive at a circuit cold and see that things are going well straight away, it says a lot about the quality of RaceArt, about how we work together and about my own ability to adapt. Now we’re going to try and create little more luck for ourselves.”

Arthur Peters: “This weekend didn’t go as I had hoped, but it is what it is. The Free Practice sessions went well. Right from the start, the pace was good, partly thanks to the strong prep work with my engineer Ward. That meant we were on the pace straight away. Qualifying was okay. It wasn’t shockingly good, but good enough. In the first race, I got hit on the opening lap. That damaged my suspension, which was particularly noticeable in left-hand corners. But we finished the race and picked up points, and that was the most important thing. In Race 2, I was unfortunately taken out on the third lap, and that was basically the end of it for me. That was a real shame. Everyone has a bad weekend every now and then, and that’s behind me now.”
